Characteristics of wooden blinds
Wooden blinds, compared to other covers, are distinguished by the material from which they are made. Wood, as a natural material, has the rare ability to give interiors a unique style. Moreover, it can create a unique and warm climate.
The wood refers to the classics, but it is a classic with a really good style. For some time, this material was associated mainly with once fashionable, and then considered obsolete, paneling or typical mountain buildings. Currently, wooden accessories are very fashionable, they dominate the most fashionable styles of interior decorations - Scandinavian, Scandi Boho or New Nordic. Against this background, wooden blinds are a unique element creating the character of the interior. Currently, large windows are designed, both in single-family and city housing, so they must be carefully screened. The window space should not only harmonize with the whole, but also very skilfully emphasize and complement it.
Wooden blinds belong to the group of internal window covers. They cannot be placed outside. They would be destroyed quickly under the influence of weather conditions.
Features of wooden blinds
In addition to the tasteful appearance, wooden blinds are also highly effective in protecting the interior against sunlight and heat.
The aesthetic functions are based on the colors and high-quality materials used in the production. The wood comes in various shades and by choosing this type of blinds you can choose a lighter color, here is also white (very often chosen for white windows) or choose darker shades, here the color palette goes up to black. The wooden material is very universal and it fits nicely with the interiors in which there are various color accents: white, beige, gray, but also more intense, e.g. green, blue, graphite or black. However, it is necessary to check what color palette exists in particular product groups of wooden blinds (type of lamellas). Aesthetics also applies to the quality of workmanship. In this type of covers made of wooden materials are made both lamellas (horizontal slats of the blinds) and accessories, such as the cover of the upper gutter and the control mechanism. The method of control is the same as in classic blinds; we use a non-bead string, but a wooden knob. The advantage of wooden blinds is also that they look very decorative from the outside, thus decorating the appearance of the house facade.
The protection against sunlight is related to the lamellas. There are three different widths in wooden blinds: 25mm, 50mm or 65mm. All widths are operated identically with a simple cord mechanism. The slats can be completely pulled upwards and thus reveal the glass. After they are lowered, the degree of light supply and the angle of its incidence are regulated by changing the position of the lamellas. Wooden blinds have another important feature - due to the material they are made of, the slats are thicker than in classic blinds and therefore, when covered, they provide not only shade but also cooler temperatures. The width of the slats affects the size of the window in which the cover may appear. For smaller glazing, a width of 25 mm is recommended so that the shutter does not seem too heavy and too large. Larger glazing can be covered with lamellas 50mm and 65mm wide, which will fit nicely with large glazing.
New are 65mm wide wooden blinds. Wider slats mean that when we set the blinds in the open position, there is more space between the slats, and thus more light enters the interior. Their advantage is undoubtedly a more compact design - in the folded position (pulled up) they take up less space due to the fact that the slats are wider, so you need less of them. The smaller volume means that the wooden blinds can be used with a low window lintel, which was often impossible with the smaller lamella widths.
The variety of widths affects the weight of the blinds, and thus the method of assembly. Blinds with 25 mm wide slats can be mounted to the wall and ceiling, but also to the window frame. Thanks to the use of side vein guides, the unsightly effect of the strips sticking out of the glass is prevented during installation to the window frame. In turn, blinds with wider slats (50mm and 65mm) are recommended to be mounted on a wall or ceiling.
Wood is a unique material, and wooden blinds undoubtedly belong to the group of the most stylish interior covers. The quality of both the moldings and the fixtures is very high. In production, special and durable types of wood are also used, and the aesthetics of the whole - strips and fittings are taken care of. Care is also taken to pack them carefully for the journey to the customer.
However, wood is a natural material. Therefore, during use, you need to take care of the appearance of wooden blinds so that they look aesthetically at all times. Keeping them clean is not a problem, but remember to do it regularly. Dust is removed with a dry cloth or a special broom. For more difficult stains, you can use a damp, soft cloth, while the whole thing should be wiped dry afterwards. You can also use professional wood care preparations.
In which rooms to install wooden blinds
The Knall online store offers custom-made internal wooden blinds. When placing an order, simply enter the appropriate data, eg 150x150, 150x160, 160x180 etc. This means that there are virtually no restrictions as to the place of installation. They can be used with windows of non-standard dimensions - smaller or larger and with wide glazing. Thanks to this, one type of covers can be used in the whole house, so that the whole is coherent and aesthetic, e.g. in the combined rooms of the kitchen and living room, wooden blinds are suitable for balcony doors leading to eg a terrace.
You have to remember that when choosing wooden window blinds in rooms such as kitchen and bathroom, you need to take care of their very good ventilation. Wood exposed to moisture may deform and even merge. Wooden blinds are not used for roof windows. Due to the current trends in interior design, customers most often choose wide bamboo blinds, often white or in natural colors.
When placing an order in the Knall online store and entering data related to the size, material type, etc., the price will automatically appear on the left side of the screen.
- Wooden (wooden) - made of a special kind of wood, Siberian lime. Siberian linden is characterized by high strength and durability. They are available with 25mm 50mm 65mm lamellae.
- Bamboo - produced in the process of joining narrow strips of natural bamboo. The lamellas have a shadier structure compared to classic wooden blinds. The thinner structure causes that the blinds, when rolled up (pulled up), take up less space than with 25mm 50mm slats.
How to measure
When placing an order on our website, please specify the dimensions of the ordered wooden blinds. To do this, go to the tabMeasurement. There are precise instructions on how to correctly measure and avoid the risk of making a mistake.
How to choose a color
Wooden blinds are made of Siberian linden or bamboo. The color palette therefore includes natural shades of wood, but also, for example, black and white. A feature of the product is a natural material that preserves the properties of wood (eg grain pattern) and its ability to create a warm climate in the interior. The choice of color is a decision regarding the shade of the wood - lighter or darker. It depends primarily on the arrangement of the entire interior.
How to mount
You can assemble wooden blinds yourself - the instructions are available hereassembly instructions. An exception may be blinds with 65mm slats. Slats of this width are intended primarily for larger windows; they fit better into more spacious interiors. In this case, the whole thing can be quite heavy, because their slats are thicker than aluminum blinds. Therefore, in the case of a larger product, it is worth considering commissioning the assembly to specialists.
How to clean
In order to maintain the aesthetic appearance of wooden blinds, periodically wipe the slats with a dry, soft cloth and use a wood care preparation. You can also use a damp cloth, but then it should be wiped dry.
