Wooden blinds invariably in fashion cz. 2

« Back to blog

This is how the fashion for wooden blinds does not go away. Wood as an addition or complement to the interior design is very stylish. Its advantage is also that it fits various styles in which apartments are arranged; those more modern and those with a more traditional look. And this atmosphere - wood can give the interior a unique character.

For several years, wood has been undergoing a kind of renaissance and it appears much more often in architectural designs. The reason is the popularity of Scandinavian and other interior design, for which it is the basis, for example, Scandi Boho or New Nordic. Here, the basis is natural materials, next to wood it is linen, cotton and wicker. In these styles, raw wood is used to design floors, furniture and accessories such as small tables.

Wooden blinds are irreplaceable in this type of combinations. They complement the decor and emphasize its atmosphere. Designed in various shades of wood, they also easily match the colors.

Wooden blinds in practice
Wooden blinds are made of horizontally arranged slats, the so-called lamellas mounted on wooden fittings. With the strips of wooden blinds (the same as in classic blinds), we regulate the degree of light inflow into the room. Set the slats at any angle, completely cover it or fully pull it up to reveal the interior. We control the slats with a string mechanism, an aesthetic knob also made of wood.

The louver slats have three different widths: 25mm, 50mm and 65mm. The width of the slats affects the installation method, but also determines the size of the room in which the blind may appear. And so the 25mm wide slats will better match smaller rooms. We can mount them to the wall, ceiling or window frame. Wooden blinds with slats of 50mm or 65mm will aesthetically fit in with larger spaces, and thus windows. Here, due to the weight of the cover, it is recommended to mount it to the wall or ceiling.

Aesthetics of wooden blinds
Keeping wooden blinds clean is very simple and does not cause major problems. For basic care, all you need is a dry, soft cloth and wood care product. We spray it on the surface of the slats and then wipe them dry. Once in a while, or in the event of larger dirt appearing, you can use a damp cloth dipped in water with a mild detergent (preferably also one designed for cleaning wood). However, you have to remember to wipe the entire surface dry afterwards. With wooden blinds, it is also worth taking into account the nature of the rooms in which you want to install them. If these are rooms that are more prone to moisture, such as, for example, a kitchen or a bathroom, they must be very well ventilated. As a natural material, wood can deteriorate and deform under the influence of moisture.

The Knall online store offers various types of wooden covers, both in terms of the type of wood and the width of the lamellas. All types of covers are manufactured to individual dimensions and can be adapted to window frames of various, also non-standard sizes.
